Loved it! Tremendous acting. Surprising treatment and staging.
ReplyDeleteAstonishing acting with not a false note throughout. And incredibly smart directing. Every moment mattered.
ReplyDeleteI benefit from perusing your website. Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, engaging acting and wonderful staging. Hardly mattered to this non-Russian speaking that the cast did not speak in English.
ReplyDeleteDespite of balcony seats inconvenience,it worth to be patient for 2,2,5 hours thank to amazing play of talanted russian actors.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant acting. The Russian language production was riveting and powerful.
ReplyDeleteBad translation German>Russian>English subtitles. Tiresome. Seemed longer than Gotterdammerung.
ReplyDeleteIt is inadmissible to have the line
ReplyDelete"additional text by Jean-Jaques (sic!) Russo (sic!) and Otto von Bismark (sic!)"
in a BAM program
I found the acting thrilling, moving, and amazingly precise — even though I know only a little Russian I was mesmerized by this production. Not even an audience member’s REPEATED cell phone rings could put me off.
ReplyDeleteBoring and Banal!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pleasure! We watched in one breath the actors' game!♡ Magnificent theatre, comfortable chairs, fantastic atmosphere!
ReplyDeleteActing was incredible but directing was not up to par. Good try on modernism and minimalism but it was not too accurately worked out.
ReplyDeleteNot impressed with the cut-up version of this play. Lady Milford undergoes dramatic transformation in the original Schiller's version, selling her valuables, giving money to the poor and leaving the country, while here she remains the evil femme fatale. The last speech sounded like a Soviet-issue party decree. I didn't understand its significance.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that it was a very strong performance of the artists and I would love to see the Russia’s Maly Drama Theatre again here at BAM. Great job.
