  1. My tickets read "Rhiannon Giddons - Nonesuch Records at BAM"
This was billed as a solo show in anticipation of her solo album. How can you change this two days before the show?

    1. Thank you for your feedback. The Rhiannon Giddens program change was announced in August. Advanced ticket buyers were notified via email that Giddens would be joined by her band Carolina Chocolate Drops in addition to previewing material from her solo album. We apologize if the notice didn’t successfully reach you. Your helpful feedback will be used in our effort to improve future program announcements, so we thank you again.

  5. Rhiannon Giddens is touched by angels, but the various incarnations of the Drops, each and every member and guest and friend, especially this combination -- Welcome home, Hubby -- make for a holy band. Is breá linn tú go léir.

  6. I was sitting in the lower mezzanine. The sound system could have been better. Her voice seemed distant. I don't think the hall is set up well for electrified music. That being said, it was a very good show. Like a previous poster, I was hoping for a solo show as I believe her voice has just begun to scratch the surface of her potential. I am interested in hearing her expand into other genres. Her version of Patsy Cline's "She's Got You" was interesting, maybe not as good as the original.

    1. "Maybe not as good as the original," when talking about a Patsy Kline song is giving a Mis. Giddens a well deserved compliment.

  8. They were wonderful as usual. I had bought tickets for 4 nonesuch performances but not this one as I didn't recognize her name. As soon as I got notice of the CCD I bought a ticket and the seat was amazing both for sight and sound (I'm not specifying, as I plan to pick that seat for all future performances). I've been coming to BAM since the early 70's and I've never noticed a problem with the sound--lucky, I guess.

  9. The concert was fantastic as expected- Rhiannon was in top form- not only great voice and musical prowess but between songs her and Hubby"s banter and interplay gave the concert a warm and intimate feel. Hubby's skill with a wide range of instruments and song was amazing. I found both Rhiannon and Hubbys' knowledge and respect of the history of the music to be commendable. That they give full credit to the original artists when nowadays many artists take personnel credit makes them special-HONEST- My best wishes to them and the band for continued success. Please keep making music. PS: Thank you very much Christine of BAM for your help- It really meant alot to my wife and myself- sincerely- Cliff and Karen Galley

  10. Ethereal ... I though the folk songs of my era were dead and gone ... Giddens has revived the sounds and the spirit ... music lessons, reminders of our heritige, Woody is not in the dustbin of history ... through her words and voice and fingers she both reminds us of the past and points us to the future ... a wonderful evening that could have gone on forever ... are there age limits to become a groupie?

  11. An amazing concert in an amazing venue. Our seats in the mezzanine were perfect, we could see everyone on stage, and I would not have wanted to miss seeing any of the so-very-talented performers as they played. I especially like the way they are introducing us to the progression of this sound, from the early fiddling to later blues. We are looking forward to many more visits to BAM, and expecially hope the Carolina Chocolate Drops will be back soon.
